About the Teacher
Kathy Hunsaker - Miller has been Licensed by the State Of Washington for child care since 1999. She
grew up in White Salmon, but has many fond memories of her childhood days being spent at relatives in the Zillah area. She has four children of her own, Matthew (25) lives in Seattle, Cody (21) is in the Coast Guard, Kady (18) just graduated High School and Riley (11). She is also a grandma to Hannah (4) whom she calls the "Love of her life!"
She is current on Infant / Child / Adult CPR, First Aid, HIV Certification, TB Tested, & Criminal Background Check.
Kathy is also a certified American Red Cross Instructor for CPR, First Aid, Blood Borne Pathogens.
She is a former EMT.
She has taken numerous training's of on-going Early Childhood Education Classes on a variety
of subjects.
She is serving as Secretary on the Early Learning Division of Family Child Care Providers for SEIU, and was just nominated to serve another two year term by her peers. www.seiu925.org.
She served on the bargaining team for SEIU to negotiate the first Historic contract with DSHS
that was just approved by Governor Christine Gregoire in 2006. Kathy then two years later, again was nominated to serve on the bargaining team for SEIU for 2008.
Kathy is also a former CASA Volunteer (Court Appointed Special Advocate).
She has completed taking College Classes to obtain her CDA (Child Development Associate.)
She and a small group of providers from Vancouver set out in 2008 to create a childcare Association in Vancouver. This was a large Chapter with over 60 members in 2008-09. Recently Kathy has left this affliation to pursue the dream of offering High Quality STARS Trainings and Workshops at an affordable price for providers.
She and a fellow provider have created a brand new networking group in Vancouver called Pacific Northwest Childcare Network to do just that. They have also created yet another Chapter for WSFCCA, Columbia River Family Child Care Associaton, www.crfcca.com
Kathy is a member of Washington State Family Child Care Association, National Association for the Education of Young Children NAEYC, SEIU, USDA Food Program, Oregon Eco-Healthy Childcare.
In her spare time, Kathy enjoys spending time with her family. She loves going to the Beach, going to the car car races to watch her husband race his Nostalgia Funny Car, creating new spaces in her yard, shopping, reading, relaxing, watching old movies, taking walks and says her favorite place in the entire world is
Maui, Hawaii.
