Our Philosophy
Welcome to “Just Like Home" Emergent Preschool. Our curriculum is child's play. Children retain more when they are having fun, so our program emphasizes learning through play. The curriculum is flexible enough to allow for individual growth, with enough structure to promote cognitive skills and self-discipline. This flexible approach accommodates the different rates at which children develop his or her own unique qualities and character. We believe teaching children using the Emergent approach gives each child the opportunity to learn, grow, problem solve, and obtain a positive self image.
Now, more than ever, researchers are saying that children do their most important learning before the age of five. That's why we are not only dedicated to giving lots of love and attention, but also to provide your child with those critical early learning experiences.
We also use the "Love & Logic" approach in teaching preschool.
Our Curriculum
At Just Like Home we have developed a program with the individual child in mind. With the use of stories, music, imaginative play, social games, outdoor time, arts and crafts, children will learn a variety of skills that will prepare them for school.
The program we use is called “FunShine Express.” You can find out all about this program at www.funshineexpress.com It offers three different themes each month that we build on in our own way. Each month we focus on three letters from the Alphabet, numbers, colors, shapes. We also use enrichment activity sheets to compliment what we are learning each month. Your child will come home with different crafts and activities from what we are working on during the month.
Children learn by doing! They are interested in hands-on materials and should be offered opportunities to make meaningful choices. We offer a wide variety of ideas to build early literacy, math, science, social skills and more!
We help address each child socially, physically, emotionally, and cognitively! Our curriculum stimulates thinking, reasoning, problem solving, and decision making.
Our program ensures that each child participates in daily activities that enhance the following developmental domains:
SOCIAL SKILLS: “All About Me!” Preschool provides children with the environment to build self-esteem, self-control, and self-awareness. Throughout their day they are given many opportunities to meet with success.
EMOTIONAL SUPPORT: Our caregivers truly love children! Each child is provided with the affection and support from warm and caring adults.
CREATIVE AND ARTISTIC EXPERIENCE: Creative expression is achieved through art, music, and dance.
PHYSICAL ACTIVITY: “All About Me!” Preschool ensures that children are encouraged to move indoors and outdoors. Daily program plans also engage children in periods of active and quiet play.
MENTAL ABILITIES: Children need concrete experiences. Activities and materials are selected to encourage “learning by doing.” With interactions that develop problem-solving skills.
HEALTH EDUCATION: As children learn about themselves, we encourage them to assume responsibility for hand washing, toileting, and playground safety.
